Something I've been meaning to add to my site. I can make an image of a 800k boot disk for you with the patched version of the Apple HD SC so you'd be able to try that. If you've already tried all of the above, then the next step would be trying to do this without your hard drive in the mix. If that still doesn't work there is something else going on, e.g. If you don't, try turning everything off and on again. Assuming that Apple HD SC let you initialize the disk, you should now see the disk on your desktop.Using Apple HD SC will give you a clean slate we can trouble shoot from. I know that you wrote that your disk was Macintosh formatted, but it may use one of iomega's newer boot drivers that don't work on the plus. Use Apple HD SC to initialize the disk.Run Apple HD SC, select switch disk until your zip drive is selected (SCSI ID 6 from what you wrote).Turn on your zip drive (with the disk inserted).I have an older version somewhere but first.Äownload the patched version of Apple HD SC if you don't have it. Since you're running 6.0.8, the version of Lido on the garden won't work for you. Reading through the thread I see you have both an external hard drive and a zip drive, and you can get files to your plus using a serial connector. I deal with cyber security and business continuity planning, so as you can guess things can be a bit busy for me. Other than being in the System Folder, is there something else I am supposed to do? My goal here is to just get it to work so I can make some backups. I am suspecting that I have a driver problem. I booted with the Zip disk inserted, and I could tell that the Mac was trying to boot from the Zip, but it did not (as expected) and the screen eventually just turned black. I have also swapped the 2 plugs at the 2 connectors on the Zip drive, but no change. I have tried using ID=5, and with and without the termination switch on, and no change. When I run SCSIProbe, it detects the HDD (ID=4), the Mac CPU (ID = 7) and the Zip (ID = 6). But I do not see the drive, regardless of whether the disk is in or out. So, we know that the Zip is allowing a passthrough to the HDD. When I power on, the HDD boots the System Software (6.0.8). The Zip disk that I have says that it is Mac formatted. I have placed the Iomega 4.2 driver in the System Folder. The Zip drive is connected to its power supply. I have used this HDD without any sort of termination on this Mac Plus without any problems. Note that this HDD does not have a termination switch, and does have a second Centronics socket. Second connector on Zip to my external SCSI HDD (a POWERDrive 40 MB drive). Set to ID 6, and termination switch turned ON (also tried it with termination switch OFF). I recently got a ZIP drive 100, and I cannot get it to mount.
